　　Melinda（詹妮弗·洛芙·休伊特 Jennifer Love Hewitt 饰）具有一种和鬼魂沟通的神秘能力，常常有鬼魂来找她帮忙。鬼魂们来到阳世，大都是因为有未尽的心愿，这些心愿阻止了他们再次获得生命，而Melinda在生与死之间穿梭，在帮助他们的同时，探索生命与死亡的真谛。知道真相的除了丈夫Jim（大卫·康拉德 David Conrad 饰）就是Melinda在古董店的合作伙伴Delia（卡穆琳·曼海姆 Camryn Manheim 饰）。喜欢研究超自然现象的人文历史大学教授Rick（杰·摩尔 Jay Mohr 饰），虽然看不到鬼魂，但是可以听到他们的声音，正因为此，他也经常帮助Melinda解释很多她看到的鬼魂给她的提示。
